Riad SofiaMédina · Marrakech

A riad restored the proper way.

An open-sky courtyard, a double gallery of arcades, zellij and painted wood — the house tells the story of Marrakech craft on every floor.

Mosaic tables set for breakfast under the courtyard arcades

The courtyard

The heart of the house: a turquoise plunge pool edged in zellij, mosaic tables beneath the arches, light falling from the open sky. At night, the lanterns take over.

The winter salon

A fireplace, carved cedar, embroidered banquettes: the salon where evenings stretch out once the medina goes quiet.

Hammam & massage

A traditional hammam within the house; essential-oil massages on request. Give it a late afternoon — you'll come out somewhere else entirely.

The quarter

Derb Arset Aouzal, steps from Dar El Bacha palace: a quiet lane, dead centre of everything. Guests rate the location 9.5/10.
